Getting to Know Norton, VA
Located in the western tip of the state of Virginia, Norton is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, Norton is the least populated city in the state of Virginia. Norton was originally known as “Prince’s Flats” but was later renamed after the head of the railroad at the time, Eckstein Norton. The city of Norton was located on the Wilderness Trail, and the settlement developed a central hub for the timber trade. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is the Hotel Norton.
